By now, many of you have met my daughter Sadie—through our Facebook posts or on this blog. If you haven't, here's a quick primer: she's 18 months old; she's obsessed with bananas (baby-das), dogs (woof-woofs), and panda bears (payas); and she's pretty cute.

So last night, I wanted to dig in on her 2015 goals. Here's what she and I came up with:

  1. Eat more baby-das (remember, those are bananas) than little-humanly possible.
  2. Be supportive when little bro/sis arrives in May.
  3. Poo and pee in the potty (but only after pooing and peeing on the living room carpet at least 4 times).
  4. Gain at least 5 lbs.
  5. Escape the crib at least once, giving Mom and Dad a heart attack.
  6. Continue extreme mullet growth.
  7. Finally get some air in my jumping attempts.
  8. Convince Mom and Dad to get me a real woof-woof.
  9. Expand my hugging repertoire to include Dad, not just Mom.
  10. Increase cuteness factor by at least 1.5x.

Happy New Year!

company Happy Holidays!

Here at Mimo, we've been doing a lot to celebrate the holidays. Eventually, we'll get a little bit of rest ourselves (as 2015 is shaping up to be a pretty awesome year for us), but for the last month, we've been pretty busy with both work and fun here at Rest Devices HQ. Here's a quick recap of the fun stuff.

Julebord Holiday Party: Marie, who makes up our entire Creative & Design department, hails from Norway, is an unbelievable chef, and puts together a mean party. So naturally, when it came time to put together our holiday party—Julebord, as they say in Norway—Marie pulled out all the stops.

Reindeer Games: Every year, we do a Secret Santa-style hang, that we've dubbed "Reindeer Games." Starting in the middle of a parking lot flanked by Home Depot, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Costco, each participant pulls a name from a hat and gets 20 minutes to spend $20 on that person, then meet in the Costco cafe for lunch. It's a mad dash for the lunch spot, but also a wonderful way to get creative—and do so rather urgently. A few highlights of gifts this year:

2014 has been a big year for Mimo, as in our biggest year yet. We've had some big milestones, have learned something new every single day, and have been so proud to grow. Here's our top nine moments from the last year:

  1. CES 2014 — working with the team at Intel, launching our bottle warmer concept, and winning the Engadget Best of CES Award.
  2. The crush following CES to get our units shipped on time — we worked around the clock (see visual here) and one of us actually fell asleep in a trash can because he was so exhausted (seriously).
  3. Launching sales with Babies 'R' Us in February — shipping a product for the first time is a feeling like no other.
  4. Continuing our tradition of Reindeer Games: the Mimo Holiday Tradition. Basically, everyone on the team has $20 and 20 minutes in a Costco / Target / Home Depot / Michael's shopping center to buy the best possible gift for their just-announced Secret Santa. It's super efficient and ridiculously fun.
  5. Launching with Amazon in August — they've been phenomenal partners and we pretty much adore our buyer.
  6. Developing our manufacturing in New England — we have amazing suppliers and manufacturers, and our relationships with them are

Like many of us, you probably have plans this holiday season. You may be driving a few hours to see Aunt Liz (her cranberry sauce is just about the best thing on Earth); you may be flying someplace warm with Jim, Diane and the kids; or you're playing host to Mom, Dad, brother Sam and his new girlfriend, the twins and their kids, and Grandpa Billy.

Whichever way, you got this. Take a few deep breaths, and remember that your little one is still just about the most important thing around. Keep her well rested by following these tips.

  1. Keep the routines. Story (or 5). Tubby. Bedtime. Bottles, breastfeedings, wake-ups. As much as you can keep things the same as her life back home, she'll love you for it, and she'll sleep best. Routines are a baby's best friend (besides you and the dog, of course).

  2. Use her sheets on the travel crib. If you're on the road and using a travel crib—or even Cousin Debbie's crib from when she was a tyke—take the two minutes to put your little one's sheets from home on it. It'll smell like home, like her, and like you.

  3. Bring the lovey

As you know, we do all of our own R&D. Something we're proud of, but also something that's become a big part of who we are as a company, what we stand for, and how we envision the future of our products and our industry.

To highlight all of this, we'll be starting an R&D blogpost series called "Made in the USA," starting with a very core component to early design and prototyping: our 3D printer!

So what are we 3D printing today? I asked Silas, resident Hardware Ninja, and Katy, Lady of the Machine:

"Today, we're printing parts for a jig that we'll use to make the Lilypad building process much more efficient. The jig will ultimately be used to easily align Lilypad pieces together in the gluing process. And, it's a great excuse to use translucent purple in our development process."

Stay tuned for more adventures in 3D printing!

One of the things we love most about data is when you have the ability to share it. So naturally, this is one of the key features of the Mimo Smart Monitor. Designed to allow parents to share their baby’s data and insights with all of his or her loving caregivers, the Mimo app helps everyone caring for baby stay on the same page.

So what does sharing a Mimo mean?

  1. You can allow authorized users to access your baby’s Turtle data.
  2. Choose the authorized users that can access your baby’s Mimo.
  3. To ensure data stays in the right hands, only the owner of the Turtle (the phone on which the Turtle was first setup) can share the turtle.
    • This means that if you are not the owner and try to share the Turtle, you will receive an error.
    • Please note that the link you send to share your Turtle expires after 24 hours (though you can always create a new one).
  4. Share the Turtle with as many people as you would like.

Ready to Share? Here are instructions for iOS or Android:

For iOS

  1. Make sure the person you would like to access your turtle has
